Spring celebrations for six- and twelve-year-olds
Gifts for a communion, lentefeest or fête laïque
Between April and June, Belgian families celebrate their six-year-olds (first communion or lentefeest) and their twelve-year-olds (plechtige communie, vormsel, feest van de vrijzinnige jeugd, or profession de foi and fête laïque in Wallonia). Guests usually give money or something personal; Whishy makes the personal part: 3D-printed initials with the child's name, photo frames, keychains and text displays, printed to order in Niel.
For a six-year-old, the initial with their name and a playful topper (€17.99) or the photo frame with their name (€19.99) are the pieces that go on the bedroom shelf. For a twelve-year-old, a text display with their name and the year (€12.99) or a name keychain for their first house key (€6.99) fits better.
Everything is made in matte PLA and finished by hand, with the name and colours you choose on the product page.

When to order
The communion and lentefeest season is concentrated in April, May and early June, and most ceremonies fall on Sundays. Because many families order in the same weeks, order at least two weeks before the date. Initials, keychains and text displays take 3 to 5 business days to print; dolls and frames up to 10.
The party is often at a restaurant or at home with a gift table, so if you want the piece to arrive at the child's house directly, enter their address at checkout.
Questions people ask
What do you give a child for a lentefeest or first communion?
Most guests give money plus a small personal gift. Popular personal gifts are a keepsake with the child's name — an initial, a photo frame, a text display with the year — or a piece of jewellery. Whishy's personalised initials start at €12.99 and the photo frame with name is €19.99.
What is the difference between a lentefeest and a first communion?
Both celebrate a child of about six in spring. The first communion is the Catholic ceremony; the lentefeest is the non-religious alternative in Flanders. At twelve, the equivalents are the vormsel or plechtige communie and the feest van de vrijzinnige jeugd. The gifts are the same for both.
Can I add the date of the communion to the gift?
Yes. The Personalized Text Display takes any name, date or short phrase, and the photo frame and initial take the child's name. You type the exact text in the customisation box when ordering.
